What we are about

The Split Chimp Micropub was established in May 2015 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, as a small concern, run by the Owner, Mark Hall, an ex Paramedic. In Feb 2019 Mark opened a 2nd Micropub in the refurbished Spanish City in Whitley Bay called The Split Chimp Ale House, and later opened a 3rd in Seaton Delaval called The Split Chimp Tavern. The Tavern has since been sold on and remains as a pub called The Crafty Lodge, and the original Micropub closed in September 2023 due to massive rises in Rent, Rates and other charges. Only the Whitley Bay one remains at the moment...........................

Our small pub is the ideal space to relax in a home from home environment. The main focus is on serving excellent Real Ales on Hand Pulls x 3, selected Keg Beers x 8, Real Ciders on Hand Pulls x 2, Bottled Craft beers, Prosecco or Wine, and a few specifically chosen Spirits.

You will find The Split Chimp very different from other pubs, and you will be assured of a warm welcome. Dogs are welcome but it is a strict 'Paws on Floors' policy, and they must remain on a lead and under control (you hold the lead) at all times. Noisy dogs or those chewing the furniture will be asked to leave, and you will need to accompany them.

Whitley Bay has excellent views of the sea and gardens from the outside space, but dress warmly if you want to sit in the fresh air.

The usual pub snacks are available.

What to look for when finding us

The Split Chimp Whitley Bay is easy to find, just follow the coast road until you see a massive white dome that looks like the Taj Mahal, and walk round to the sea side of the building.
